A NEW political party campaigning for greater autonomy for Yorkshire is to field candidates in the upcoming European elections.

Yorkshire First aims to secure a parliament for Yorkshire and rebalance the UK economy away from the South East.

The party has registered a list of three candidates for the Yorkshire and the Humber region, including former Liberal Democrat councillor and Parliamentary candidate Stewart Arnold, and Driffield man Richard Honnoraty.

The party’s founder, and second name on the electoral list, is Holmfirth-born business advisor Richard Carter, who currently lives in Germany.
