RUGBY stars from York Knights paid the ever-present children of Hob Moor Community Primary School a visit, writes Kris McGee.

The school’s attendance scheme rewards children for being In School Every Day On Time.

Children who achieved 100 per cent school attendance through autumn and spring were treated to a workout session with Jack Steerman of the York City Knights Rugby League Club.

He even brought along his fellow Knights player Pat Smith to work out with the children to promote the importance of attendance.

The children were all given vouchers to encourage them to come to see Jack, Pat and the other York Knights in action at one of their matches.

Jack said: “It was a fantastic afternoon. I had a lot of fun.”

Sam Dunderdale, head teacher, said, “We are delighted to be working with the York Knights to raise the profile of good attendance and to celebrate the children’s achievements.”
