A NEW ‘outreach centre’ is opening at the University of York. The York Science Outreach Centre, which opens next month in the Department of Chemistry, will be equipped with modern laboratories and will cater for up to 100 visitors at a time.
It will provide space for a range of activities for primary and secondary schools, sixth-form and further education colleges, and the public, said a university spokeswoman. It will also allow the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) departments, and the ‘widening participation team’, to show learners the frontiers of science and publicise research work carried out at York.
