I FIND it hypocritical in the extreme that David Cameron is playing the ‘religion card,’ given the Coalition attacks on the ill and disabled through their benefit ‘reforms’.

Some months ago, in excess of 10,000 ill and disabled people had died as a consequence of these ‘reforms’; the DWP no longer releases figures relating to this.

In a recent TV interview, Iain Duncan Smith was challenged on these data and stated he did not care who had died. Most people, religious or otherwise, would find this stance highly offensive.

Religiosity, or the lack of it, is a personal issue and certainly has no place in politics in an increasingly secular society.
