IT appears that Robert Greaves is another member of York’s anti-car brigade and does not drive a car.

In his letter of April 24, he comments about people stepping off the pavement and into the road so therefore it is the pedestrians that are a menace and not the cars.

Motorists will try to avoid at all costs knocking people over, but in many accidents it is not always the motorist’s fault.

Maybe we should bring in laws like they have in Singapore, where jaywalking and crossing when the red man is showing carry a heavy fine.

The only thing killing the planet is the anti-car brigade with their so-called traffic-calming schemes which cause more pollution, and lunatic 20mph zones everywhere, which also slow down buses making them even less attractive to potential passengers.
