Cafe plan for vacant Piccadilly shop

First published in News

AN empty shop on Piccadilly could be converted into a cafe after it lay vacant for almost two years.

Owners Newcastle based Hanro Ltd have submitted a change of use application to convert the empty 7-9 Piccadilly, between Ladbrokes and Argos, into a cafe saying they have received numerous enquiries from cafe owners keen to take on the unit.

The shop was last occupied by a fine wine and food shop 23 months ago, and before that was an Oddbins shop.

The proposed cafe would seat 25 customers and serve mainly cold food.

If there were too many then they would close due to lack of earning... No matter what you think of them, they can only stay open if successful.

Seems like a good idea, the cafe in the White Swan building has just closed and that seemed to do quite well.

I never saw the place empty during opening hours. It's a shame they were ousted from the premises.

Its a rather predictable and boring use but I suppose it is better than it standing empty any more.
