THE Heslington Road area of York has again been given a spruce up - thanks to the combined efforts of City of York Council and the University of York Students Union.
Coun David Levene, cabinet member for environmental services, said: “It is always great to see students taking pride in the area where they are living and studying. This is also a really good way for the council to highlight the volunteering opportunities available to other individuals and groups who wish to get involved in their local area.”
Students’ Union president Kallum Taylor said: “This week’s Ground Force event is another great example of the benefits which student volunteers can bring to their new communities.
“Mucking in – literally in this case – and getting your hands dirty can be good fun and if it helps improve the appearance of Heslington Road.”
