The River Ouse through York and one of its tributaries are back on the second level of flood alert as rainwater from Wednesday’s storm runs off the Pennines.

The Environment Agency this afternoon issued flood warnings for Naburn Lock, riverside paths and roads including King’s Staithe and St Georges Fields as well as Roecliffe Caravan Park on the River Use. It expects the river to peak at 11 ft 2 ins or 3.4 metres this evening.

Flood gates in York are already closed. The city was on flood alert, the lowest level of warning, earlier this week until the warning was lifted on Tuesday.
