PUPILS at a York primary school have had a taste of the chef’s life – from a man whose meals are scoffed by hundreds of people each day at one of the city’s biggest companies.

Simon Dodd of Restaurant Associates, head chef at Aviva’s York HQ, cooked up a chicken stir fry for youngsters to sample at Clifton Green School, part of its Dream Factory series which invites people into the school who do the jobs pupils said they would like to do.

Simon also chatted to pupils who have designs on being a chef.

School spokesman John Hattam said: “We ask the children what they want to be at the start of every term, and the responses cover everything from marine biologists to bus drivers.

“One of our aims is to raise children’s aspirations and get them to think about the future, not just by us telling them about a job but by actually bringing in people who do that job so they can see it first-hand, and Simon is the latest person to visit.”
