THE citizens of York have now received a leaflet informing us of the council’s vision for the future of our fair city and are requested to offer feedback.

My reply will be short and simple. I see no good reason wasting words on a council who will only please themselves.

As a born and bred citizen of York, and proud to be so for 84 years, I have seen and enjoyed the best years of York and I do not like the changes taking place, with plans for more.

My short reply is: “Leave it alone and spend the money on necessities.”

The council offices should be turned into homes; we have more than enough hotels.

We used to have good shopping and a pleasant town to walk round. Now we are inundated with food and drink outlets, cafés and takeaways of every nationality.

York has been a lovely place to live, but not for much longer with the council we are stuck with.

It troubles me to think how York will end up, but I know I have had the privilege of a life in York at its best.
