A 51-YEAR-OLD man arrested in connection with the Sherburn tyre fire will have no further action taken against him, police announced today.
The blaze, which started at the Newgen tyre recycling plant in Sherburn-in-Elmet on January 16 led to more than a dozen fire crews being brought in from across Yorkshire and caused a plume of thick black smoke to billow 5,000 feet into the air.
The man was arrested on January 21, and a North Yorkshire Police spokesman said today that investigations were ongoing.
