Train disruption between York and London

RAIL problems affecting thousands of passengers between York and London are expected to continue until 8pm.

Services have been disrupted all afternoon after problems with overhead power cables closed a section of line.

Services between York and London King's Cross are worst affected by the problem, which is cetnred on Huntingdon, between Peterborough and Stevenage. 

A spokesman for East Coast trains said there were a very limited number of services getting through to London at the moment, but travellers are advised to check online before reaching the station.

Services affected include East Coast, First Capital Connect, First Hull Trains and Grand Central. Network Rail initially said the delays were expected to remain in place until at least 6pm, but have now revised that to 8pm. 

A series of bus services have been put in place for several destinations, and York railway station is reported to be filled with delayed travellers at the moment.
