COUNCIL tax bills in East Yorkshire will be frozen for the fourth year running after councillors agreed plans to save £23.7 million next year.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council said it would still spend £23 million on services and £117 million on infrastructure schemes in 2014/15, as its budget was set during a meeting yesterday.
An extra £2.25 million will be reserved for road repairs and flood defences, with council leader Stephen Parnaby saying: “By adopting a planned approach and focusing on priorities, we continue to provide good services, meet new demands and manage budget reductions in a way which avoids the knee-jerk response to funding cuts common in many other areas.”
