Luke Russell, 21, and Jake Nolan, 18, are both charged with robbing the McColl’s store in Crichton Avenue, Clifton, in possession of a bladed instrument, on Saturday, January 18.

They appeared at York Crown Court via video link from Hull prison, where they are being held until their trial.

They confirmed their names to the court and were told of the dates for their next appearance in front of the court on April 25, ahead of a trial planned for mid June.
