TWO men have been convicted of drugs offences after being found in possession of £250,000 worth of heroin when police stopped their car in North Yorkshire.

Mark Richard Bowden and Ian Charles McLean were stopped on the A59 between Bolton Abbey and Harrogate last September.

Officers searched the Ford Ka and found the heroin.

Both men pleaded guilty to possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply when they appeared before York Crown Court.

Bowden, aged 39, of Stonefall Avenue, Harrogate, was jailed for seven years.

McLean, aged 48, of Regent Grove, Harrogate, will be sentenced later after his case was adjourned for medical reports.
