I ALWAYS thought that it was sensible eating, exercise and the genes inherited from your parents that kept you slim. But now Dutch scientists say it is feeling the cold (The Press, January 23).

Well, I suppose I can still thank my parents as the only room which was kept warm by a coal fire was the living room.

In the winter, when you opened the door to go upstairs it was like walking into a fridge, so we waited till the last minute to go to the loo as it was half way up the stairs.
