THE Yorkshire Museum’s resident teddy bear arrived at The Press offices as part of its campaign to bring renowned artist Grayson Perry to the city.

The city appointed Padmin the Bear as its Curator Of Cuddles to help gather votes for its bid to host the artist at a special Museums At Night event later this year.

At The Press offices in Walmgate, Padmin met editor Steve Hughes, and read a specially made “bear-sized” copy of the newspaper.

The Yorkshire Museum is competing against three London institutions to host Perry in May but is currently leading the public vote. The competition closes at 5pm on Tuesday.

To vote for the Yorkshire Museum go to culture24.org.uk.

Yesterday, Perry was awarded a CBE by Prince Charles and collected the honour at Buckingham Palace dressed as his alter ego Claire, in a “mother of the bride” costume.
