NEW Earswick’s ladies moved into second place in the Yorkshire Ladies ‘B’ League when they beat Leeds 85-84, picking up eight points out of the ten at stake.
The match was close throughout and no more than four shots separated any rink at the finish.
At home, Annette Prosser’s side had controlled their game after a good start, which saw them leading 9-0 after five ends, then 26-15 with three to play.
However, they lost the last three to only win 26-23.
Carol Williams’ side were 18-12 down with eight ends to play, but they only lost two more and took their game in spectacular fashion with a four on the last to finish 23-22.
Away, Margaret Morgan’s team were 14-10 down after 17 ends and went into the last 16-14 ahead. They managed to hold on for an excellent win by only dropping a single.
Monika Morgan’s team got off to a good start, leading 7-1 after three ends.
However, by the 16th end they trailed 19-13 before a single then a three gave them hope. They dropped a three and a two before getting a three on the last to make the final score 24-20 against them.
