A HOLIDAY Park on the Escrick Park Estate, between York and Selby, has won a prestigious award from internationally renowned conservationist David Bellamy.
Hollicarrs has been given the Special Distinction Award in the 2013 David Bellamy Conservation Award Scheme, in recognition of the success of the adjacent Three Hagges Jubilee Wood project.
David Bellamy, president of the British Holiday and Home Parks Association, the organisers of the award, said the jubilee wood was a huge ecological asset.
The 22-acre wood, created in honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, is being transformed from arable land into woodland for the benefit of the public through a not-for-profit enterprise with assistance from the Forestry Commission and the Woodland Trust, and managed by a charity, the Hagge Woods Trust.
