A MAN has been seriously injured in a stabbing at a North Yorkshire town today.

North Yorkshire Police were called at about 12.30pm after a man from Middlesbrough reported he had been assaulted by three other men on a rural road near Kellington, in the Selby area.

Emergency services attended the scene, and the man was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment to stab wounds in his chest and abdomen. His condition is described as serious.

A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said no arrests have yet been made, but urged the public to look out for three males beleived to be in the Eggborough area.

One was wearing all grey, one wore a black jacket, and the third wore a tweed jacket. The spokeswoman said they may be accompanied by a small child wearing a red top.

Anyone who sees people matching these descriptions should phone the police on 999.
