I WOULD like to give some praise were it is due.

I went to use the toilets at the Union Terrace car park last week with my disabled daughter and the attendant was so helpful and kind. We did not have the 40p to use the toilets, but that was not a problem: she let us in for free and was so pleasant and polite.

It is so nice to meet someone who cares about their job and is not just a robot.

I am writing this after recent articles in The Press about the council changing the toilets to automated coin entry. If you do this you loose the human touch.

• I WISH to complain about the standard of public toilets in York.

During a visit to the city recently I went in the facilities near York Theatre Royal, where one of the three cubicles was out of order and the remaining two had no toilet paper. In the toilets behind Fenwicks, although each cubicle had a loo roll, only one of the toilets had a seat. The facilities in Nunnery Lane also have toilets without seats.

How can people be expected to use these facilities?
