AN elderly woman was left distressed after a brick was thrown through her window in an attempted burglary, police said.
The window was smashed at a house in Fifth Avenue, Tang Hall. Witnesses described the attacker as a white man, in his twenties, with a medium build and dark hair. He was wearing a checked lumberjack style jacket.
DC Graeme Bevington, of York CID, said: “Although the elderly woman was not physically hurt, the experience naturally left her shaken and very upset. If you are the man who was seen in the area at the time of the incident and you are not responsible, I urge you to come forward so that I can eliminate you from my inquiries.”
“I am keen to speak to anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously in the area or can help to identify the person responsible for this attempted burglary, and ask them to get in touch straight away.”
Anyone who can assist with this enquiry should contact York CID on 101.
