A RAIL users’ group has warned about changes to the Selby lines, and called for safety improvements to South Milford station.
Problems with automated barriers on the crossings at Sandhill Lane, Thorpe Gates and Thorpe Hall are among the problems which have been raised by the Selby And District Rail Users Group.
Reg French, of SADRUG, said: “The laser technology installed to operate barriers are still on some occasions malfunctioning leaving road traffic stranded. Ongoing discussions are taken place with Network Rail to try to resolve this.”
He said a contract to refurbish parts of the Selby station footbridge between Platforms 1 and 2 had been awarded and work should start soon. A grant application has been made to hopefully provide lifts. A decision will be made by March.
Mr French also said representations had been made to Northern Rail and Selby District Council to install CCTV cameras at South Milford station, and a Help Phone on Platform 1.
