York will have a new economic development boss in the new year.
Roger Ranson has been appointed as the permanent successor to Tony Bennett, who retired in the summer after 31 years with City of York Council.
Mr Ranson was previously head of economic development and tourism at Bassetlaw District Council in Nottinghamshire, and has more than 25 years' experience.
He said: "I am delighted to be joining the council to take up this prestigious post. I will be looking forward to harnessing the talents of all people - both within the council and in our partnerships - in order to drive forward the local economy of York."
Bill Woolley, director of City Strategy at City of York Council, said: "Roger joins us at a challenging time and I am sure he will make a significant contribution to helping the city's economy move forward on the strong foundations left by his predecessor."
Peter Johnson has held the position on an interim basis since Mr Bennett's departure.
