THE former manager of a York bookmaker’s shop has been charged with money laundering by detectives investigating the discovery of £170,000 in the shop safe.
North Yorkshire Police said the man had been charged following an eight-month investigation centred on the Betfred shop on the corner of Bootham and Gillygate.
Darren Stilgoe, 48, from Rawcliffe, is due to appear before York Magistrates later this month. Police said earlier this year that the money in the safe was unaccounted for.
