A YORK shopping centre has celebrated its 15th anniversary with a weekend of flash-mob fashion shows, dancing, music and a talent show.

Shoppers at Monks Cross, which opened in September 1998, were surprised by a series of fashion shows featuring professional models, which were staged throughout Saturday at Clarks, Marks & Spencer, Outfit, River Island, Laura Ashley, Debenhams, New Look and Miss Selfridge.

Spokeswoman Alex Drinkall said there were also performances by York dance group Starbrite Dance, Shepherd Group Brass Band and Razzamataz Theatre York, which performed dance and songs from West End musicals.

There was also a demonstration of belly dancing by Larissa Collins, of Snakes And Roses belly dancing group of Malton, and guitairist Connor Mellor also sang.

She said about 30 singers, comedians and dancers also took to the stage for a talent show yesterday.
