A father-of-two from York will take on three challenges for charity, finishing with a gruelling army-style assault course.
Owen Turner, 36, of Holgate, has signed up to a trio of challenges in the hope of raising £1,000 for St Leonard’s Hospice.
Owen has already completed the York 10k as his first challenge, in memory of his father-in-law, Alan Hawley, who passed away last year in the care of St Leonard’s.
He said: “I wanted to combine three events at once to raise as much money for St Leonard’s as possible. I also wanted to do something that was a challenge for me personally.”
He will take on his next challenge, the 5K Ripon Spartan assault course on Sunday, September, 8 before taking on his most difficult challenge of completing Tough Mudder, a 12 mile army style assault course.
Completing the challenges is also a huge personal milestone for Owen who broke his leg and dislocated his ankle four years ago whilst playing rugby.
He said: “It always hits me when I’m out running how lucky I am as I am slowly getting back in to it.” Link to JustGiving page: http://www.justgiving.com/OwenTRIchallenge
