A WOMAN has been arrested after a passenger was attacked after she got on a train at York station.

The assault happened just after 9pm on Saturday, August 3, just after the doors opened on a service to Sunderland.

British Transport Police said an argument broke out between two women sitting in coach F.

PC Dave Knox, who is leading the investigation, said: “There were lots of people on the train and I am confident several people saw what took place.”

The victim was not seriously injured.

A 37-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assault and released on bail.
