PART of the A64 in York will be closed overnight from next week for major resurfacing.

The westbound carriageway will be shut between Hopgrove and Grimston Bar from 8pm to 6am between Monday and Thursday, from next Monday until August 16.

The Highways Agency will also work on the entry slip road at Grimston Bar between 8pm and 6am from August 8 to 12.

The roadworks will be halted at weekends.

During the westbound carriageway closures, traffic will be diverted along Malton Road, Heworth Green, Foss Bank, Foss Islands Road, Lawrence Street and Hull Road, while through traffic can also use the Outer Ring Road to rejoin the A64 at Askham Bryan.

When the Grimston Bar slip road is closed, the diversion route will take traffic around the roundabout to join the A64 using the westbound entry point, before rejoining the eastbound carriageway at Fulford Interchange.
