A TEAM of schoolchildren have presented a cheque to their local animal shelter after taking part in a fundraising event.
The pupils, from Hambleton Church of England Primary School, took part in a sponsored run at Selby, and raised almost £450 for the York Animal Home.
Angela Hunter, from the centre, said: “We had no idea that this wonderful group of children were putting so much effort into raising money for the animals at the RSPCA York Animal Home. I opened the post one morning and there was a letter from Hambleton C of E Primary School with a cheque for £449.50. It was a lovely surprise and the children and their school should be proud of what they have achieved.
“As a result, the school is now the proud sponsor of one of our kennels.”
