RESIDENTS, schools and other groups are being invited to design a flag to represent the city of York.
Yorkshire enthusiast Andy Strangeway, from Full Sutton in East Yorkshire, has already run similar competitions for the North, West and East Ridings and has now turned his attention to York. He said: “We would like to get a view of what the people see within the York walls.’’
The winning entry will be registered in the Flag Institute’s UK Flag Registry and York will be the first Yorkshire city to be represented in that way, he said.
The deadline for submissions is August 25. An assessment panel will choose the final set of six designs to be put to a public vote.
