I have seen lots of comments on the problems the closure of Lendal Bridge may cause but I have not seen anything on the actual cost. What will it cost the tax payer in real terms?

There will be new road signs to be made and installed, traffic lights will need to be retimed, extra police will be needed at least initially to sort out congestion and I am sure there will be many other hidden costs.

All this for a six-month experiment. When we are being constantly told that there is no money for essential services, what is our council thinking of?
