THE role of housing in preventing and tackling poverty will be on the agenda during a week of events and activities in York later this year.

Housing Week 2013 will run from October 14 to 18, with landlords, private and public-sector organisations and other housing providers discussing issues such as the links between housing, health, poverty and unemployment and the impact of welfare reforms.

Interested parties have been invited to share their ideas for events and debates during the week with City of York Council.

Coun Tracey Simpson-Laing, cabinet member for health, housing and adult social services, said: “We hope to throw up new insights and solutions which we can use to help improve the situation of some of our communities’ most disadvantaged households.”

Full details of the week, which follows a similar event last October, and its itinerary will be published over the summer.
