WITH regard to Tina Duke’s letter (Bedroom politics,June 12), I would like to point out that Leeds City Council has only reclassified 865 homes while more than 3,000 residents are affected by the bedroom tax.
These included 524 two and three-bedroom flats, some high rise which have been difficult to let, and 341 five-bedroom houses with a downstairs bedroom which have been reclassified as four bedrooms with the fifth room becoming living area.
City of York Council is not in the same position as we do not have these types of properties.
The council has made contact with tenants affected by the bedroom tax and is working with them to look at options available.
