I AM pleased that Anneliese Emmans Dean’s concerns over the speed-humps on Heslington Lane were covered in your letters page (Speed cushions not the answer, June 12).
I know, from speaking to residents such as Anneliese, the painful impact these road changes are having on disabled, frail and elderly people along Heslington Lane and elsewhere.
What has particularly concerned me is that when the issue has been raised with the council, they have refused to properly engage and listen to residents.
It seems City of York Council has got a plan to roll out these ‘cushions’ across the city and will plough on regardless of the concerns raised by local people.
I have arranged to meet with Anneliese, local residents and my colleague Coun Lynn Jeffries to discuss the issue to see if there is anything we can do to make the council listen to residents.
Meanwhile, if any readers are experiencing similar issues then please get in touch.
Coun Keith Aspden, Liberal Democrat, Fulford, Main Street, Fulford.
