A SUPER-SLIMMER from York says she is enjoying a new lease of life after shedding more than seven stone in only 18 months.

Jeanette Clews, 45, from Elvington, said she was motivated to do something about her weight after struggling to keep up with her husband on a walking holiday in 2011.

After weighing in at a more than 17 stone, Jeanette is down to a trim ten stone five pounds and now it’s her husband who’s left behind as she enjoys her new fitness.

She said: “I had struggled with weight issues for a very long time. I had a very short spell in my twenties when I managed to lose weight but it crept back on.

“Although I was overweight I still liked to keep active but I really struggled to keep up with my husband, Derek, on a walking holiday in the Lake District - he was just striding about the place.

“I thought, I’m at an age where I’m really struggling now to carry this weight and if I don’t do something now, will I ever do anything about it? I was starting to feel aches and pains and there’s a history of diabetes in my family, so there was a chance that it could have been creeping up on me too.”

Jeanette joined her local Weightwatchers branch in Dunnington, where slowly but surely the weight came off.

“Because I had so much weight to lose it often felt insurmountable but I just needed the advice and encouragement of other members,” she said.

“When I got to my goal everyone was so delighted for me – it was a fantastic feeling.

“As well as feeling so much more confident with how I look, I have tons more energy. On our last trip to the Lakes, my husband was having to keep up with me.”
