STAMFORD Bridge missed out in their clash of the champions with Poppleton Tigers in the final of the City of York Girls’ Football League Under-13s Cup.

Championship winners Bridge were downed 2-0 by Premiership table-toppers Poppleton at Millfield Lane, with a goal in each half from talented midfielder Tamryn Dunlop.

Stamford Bridge’s player of the match was captain Ellie Fitzmaurice.

Brayton Belles won the U10s League Cup with a 2-1 victory over Fulford in the final, while the U11s trophy also went to Brayton after they beat Knaresborough 1-0 in the final.

The Belles U12s were unable to make it a hat-trick as they lost 1-0 to Fulford in the climax to their competition.

Scarborough Ladies lifted the U14s League Cup, beating Fulford 1-0 in the final, while Poppleton Tigers completed a league and cup double at U16s level after a 4-1 final triumph against Fulford.

Meanwhile, the 12th annual City of York Girls’ Tournament will be held at Poppleton’s Millfield Lane base on Sunday, June 9.

The tournament is for teams from U10s to U16s.
