THE never-ending power-struggle between Abu Qatada and the Government goes on as he seeks to evade extradition to Jordan.
Just what is the point in having a judicial-system if some foreign ne’er-do-well only has to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights quoting fear of torture or not getting a fair trial and the judicial-system is over-ruled.
This process makes a total mockery of the Home Secretary and Parliament. The Human Rights Act must be modified or repealed.
Like so many laws and acts, the Act was brought in with the best of intentions. However, once clever lawyers got their hands on it, it has been heavily distorted.
Abu Qatada and his ilk will be able to stay in this country for many years while this Act is in existence. Britain must be allowed to conduct its own affairs.
