Coronation Street's Kylie Platt is expecting a baby girl.

The outspoken beautician, played by Paula Lane, reveals the gender of her unborn child this week, but she is still in the dark as to who the baby's father is after having a one night stand with Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) - husband David's (Jack P. Shepherd) brother - on Christmas Day.

As time passes, Kylie must decide whether to be honest with her spouse or hope the child is his in order to keep the night a secret.

A show source told Inside Soap magazine: "The clock is ticking on her pregnancy, and every day that passes is a day closer to the crunch. Kylie is still horrified about the fact she slept with Nick at Christmas - and until her baby is born, she can't know for sure whether David or Nick is the dad.

"So, while she's getting ready to give birth, Kylie knows her marriage could be on the line, as there's every chance she could lose it all if David finds out the truth - whether the baby's his or not!"

David's mother Gail McIntyre (Helen Worth) is the only person in the know about the incident and Kylie feels overwhelmed with guilt when her partner takes on extra work to prepare for the new arrival.

The source added: "Wanting to do everything he can to help Kylie, David has volunteered to work her shifts at the Bistro. He's exhausted after a day of working at the hair salon, but sets out again in the evenings because he doesn't think Kylie should be on her feet all night.

"It's this that actually upsets Gail the most - and Kylie's crippled with guilt about her mother-in-law's obvious disapproval. But what to do next is not the easiest decision."
