A MAN wanted for extradition to Portugal is being hunted by police in North Yorkshire.

Stuart Worsley, 41, orginally from Harrogate, is wanted for failing to answer bail.

Portuguese authorities want to speak to Worsley in connection with burglary and assault offences, which occurred in Lagos in 2012.

He is described as white, 5ft 9ins tall, with a medium build and brown hair.

While it is thought he may be in North Yorkshire, Worsley’s whereabouts are unknown and it is possible that he is anywhere in the country. He known to have links in the Nottingham area.

Inspector Rob Settle, of North Yorkshire police tasking and logistics unit, is leading the hunt for Worsley.

He said: “Stuart, if you see or hear this appeal I very strongly advise you to hand yourself in to the nearest police station immediately. This is not an issue that will go away. We will not stop the search for you until you are in custody.

“I am also appealing to anyone who may know where Stuart Worsley is, to contact the police or Crimestoppers immediately.

“If you are protecting Worsley you are not helping him, indeed you are only delaying the inevitable outcome.

“Also, I ask you to consider the possible consequences for yourself. If you are shielding Worsley you may be committing offences. If this is the case, you face the prospect of being arrested and may face prosecution.”

Anyone who can help to locate Stuart Worsley is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 immediately, select option 1 and pass the information to the force control room or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
