Ryan Gosling got a thrill out of filming a bank heist in his new movie 'The Place Beyond the Pines' and even picked up tips on bank robberies.

Ryan Gosling was excited to rob a bank in 'The Place Beyond the Pines'.

The actor - who reunites with his 'Blue Valentine' director Derek Cianfrance for the upcoming drama, which also stars Bradley Cooper - plays a rebellious motorcycle-riding criminal in the movie and revelled in the opportunity to film a bank heist.

Speaking to Total Film magazine, he revealed: "Before 'Blue Valentine', I told Derek how I'd always wanted to rob a bank but was too scared of jail. But if I was going to do it, I would do it on a motorcycle and drive into a U-Haul at the end."

The hunky star - whose outlaw character is hotly pursued by Bradley Cooper's rookie cop - even picked up some tips on how to rob a bank from working on the movie.

He said: "I learned that you just have to ask for the money; they have to give it to you. I'm not promoting it but I would say don't use a weapon if you're going to do it because nice bank robbers spend less time in jail."

'The Place Beyond the Pines', which also stars Gosling's girlfriend Eva Mendes, is due for release next month.
