GUESTS were last night invited to take a tour around York’s new £32 million council headquarters.
West Offices, a former railway station and a Grade II-listed building, has been transformed into a new home for City of York Council in a move which will see the authority cut the number of sites it occupies from 17 to two, saving £17 million over the next 25 years.
The HQ, on Station Rise, will officially open its doors on Monday morning and will house the council’s customer centre and 1,400 staff, as well as services such as the Citizens’ Advice Bureau and Future Prospects.
