A motorist has been injured after a car left the road this afternoon.

The incident occurred at about 2.40pm today, when a blue Renault Clio left the Eastbound carriageway of the A64, close to Tadcaster.

At least three police vehicles and one ambulance are in attendance, and one lane of the road is closed.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said the driver of the Clio, a 29-year-old woman, believed to be from the Essex area, suffered minor injuries in the crash, which did not involve any other vehicles.

Motorists are advised to expect heavy delays on the eastbound carriageway until the vehicle is recovered.
