THE University of York has bought Yorkshire House, the former premises of Yorkshire Housing.
The three-storey 10,626 sq ft property, based in Innovation Close, Heslington, was bought from Yorkshire Community Property Services Ltd for an undisclosed sum, in a deal advised by law firm Denison Till.
Richard Toole, estates, land and property manager for the university, said: “This building was an attractive proposition for us as it is close to the university campus and part of the York Science Park where we already have a substantial interest.
“We are starting fit out and conversion work and the building should be ready for occupation by Easter.” The university will use it as an extension to its social sciences departments.
