IS THERE something about tall, dark, handsome, charismatic, highly successful men that makes sports columnist Tony Kelly feel inadequate, or is he just a male version of a catty woman?

In his column (The Press, February 16) headed “Sigh England, he’s on his way back,” he calls Jose Mourinho – among other things – “The Mouth” and “Mr Self-Aggrandisement”.

Mr Mourinho has won 20 trophies with four different clubs (Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real), so any sighs will be of delight from the fans of whichever club he goes to, and sighs of disappointment from the rest.

A few weeks ago, Tony Kelly’s headline was “On your bike back to South Africa KP”, and he went on to say England cricket didn’t need Kevin Pietersen.

Shortly afterwards KP played a match-winning 186 of 233 balls, setting England up for a series win against India.

Just face it, Mr Kelly, when you've got the lot, looks and world-class ability like these two guys have, a bit of “overweening self regard” is perfectly acceptable, and making bitchy comments does indeed make you sound (in your words) a boring old far-ticked off sports reporter.
