I READ Mr Rubinstein's letter (Rules ignored, November 3) with interest.
The first footstreet was, I believe, Stonegate and when it was opened your newspaper assured us we should not see so much as a bicycle in this street.
Furthermore, when Coney Street became a footstreet, I distinctly remember overhearing a policeman informing a cyclist that as it was now a pedestrian area he could not take his cycle into it even if he was only pushing it.
Ah, happy days.
