HERE is the first glimpse of how York's Parliament Street will sparkle when the Magic Children's Christmas tree gets lit up on Friday.
Our photographer snapped this picture of the giant tree, which is set to light up central York this Christmas.
Local businesses have clubbed together to provide the backdrop of Christmas lights.
Other festive attractions in York this year include a Tree of Life in St Helen's Square, which has been decorated by local artist Helen Turner.
Children will also be able to send their festive letters to Father Christmas through a post box in the Mansion House.
City of York Council is not planning a grand lights switch-on this year, but the sparkling tree will be lit up some time on Friday afternoon.
Meanwhile, senior women from York's major organisations will be helping to light up Coppergate Shopping Centre when they switch on the lights in St Mary's Square tonight.
The lights will be switched on at 6pm today by members of Women Without Walls, a networking group of leading women from the city.
