A LATE rally was not enough for City of York Ladies who lost 3-2 at home to Blackburn in the North League Premier Division.
Two goals behind at half-time, York conceded a third soon after the break but good work by 'keeper Dawn Hopkins kept their hopes alive, bringing some reward in the last ten minutes.
First, Pam Dear swept in from a pass to the penalty spot, then Heather Stafford and Ruth Graham combined to set up a goal for Sally Sleightholme.
But York were still left pointless for the second home game in succession.
In a high-scoring game in division two of the Yorkshire League, City of York Ladies II drew 4-4 at Dewsbury.
Helen Shilleto's hat-trick and a goal by Emma Ashton gave York the edge at 4-3 but victory was denied by a late Dewsbury equaliser.
With a stand-in 'keeper, City of York Ladies' Development side lost 3-1 in division four, Sian Lewis scoring York's consolation.
In division five, City of York Ladies IV won 2-0 at home to Harrogate V.
Becky Copperthwaite put York ahead in the first-half from a Anwen Hughes cross, Sarah Hughes adding a second goal after the break.
