THE finder of precious locket discovered in a York street is now making a fresh appeal to find its owner.

Susan Johnson, 52, a cleaner, of Kingsway North, Clifton, found the gold locket alongside a wedding ring in Avenue Terrace, also in Clifton, on July 22.

She made posters to put up and asked people in the local area, but is still trying to find its owner.

She said she believes it could be of great sentimental value.

She said: "We just want somebody to claim it because I should imagine it will be of sentimental value. I would want it back if it were mine.

"I really want to find the owner of this jewellery.

"We wondered if it could have been stolen and perhaps somebody does not know it is missing."

The locket has distinctive initials engraved on to it, which Susan hopes the rightful owner will be able to identify.

"It looks as if it is quite old and it is a really nice piece of jewellery so it would be great to reunite it with its owner," Susan said.
