EXPECTANT mums will soon be able to enjoy improved facilities at York Hospital after the maternity unit was awarded more than £400,000 to spend on upgrades.
York is one of 100 hospitals in the UK chosen to receive a share of £25 million in Government cash to improve maternity facilities.
The £417,000 windfall for York will be used to create an extra birthing pool and three en-suite birthing rooms.
A hospital spokeswoman said: “We are delighted that our bid for funding to improve the labour ward environment was successful. It means we can provide an extra birthing pool room and three ensuite rooms, which will make such a difference for the mothers and their partners.”
